Child Care

What are the Valley Child Care Center hours?

The Center offers flexible hours for working parents. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 5:45am to 5:30pm. Children must be at the Center before 11am or not until after 2pm. Arriving between 11am and 2pm interferes with the children's daily schedule and their nap or rest time. Both part time and full time child care is available.

The Valley Child Care Center observes and will be closed on the following days: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Day and the day after, and the last Friday in August.

In the event of severe weather conditions the Center may have to close its operations. Closing information will be posted on Channels 2, 4, or 7 or at http://www.thevalleycenter.com/.

How much does day care cost at the Valley Child Care Center?

The Center uses a sliding scale based on income to determine rates. Rates are determined by income range and by the age of the child (infant, toddler, or preschool/school). A one time $25 family registration fee is also required. A 15% discount is also available for a second child also enrolled in the Valley Child Care Center. Rates are also broken down into Full Days (anything over 5 hours) and Half Day's (5 hours or less). Proof of income is to be determined by a copy of the previous year's tax return.

What are the admission requirements for the Valley Child Care Center?

The Valley Child Care Center will not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, sex, religion, national origin, or handicapped status. However, if a child's handicap requires additional staffing needs, the child will not be able to be enrolled unless special arrangements can be made.

The following steps must be completed before a new child can be enrolled. First, the Director or appointed representative will conduct and interview with the prospective parents so that they can become better acquainted with the Center and its policies. Second, the parents will meet with the Director to discuss the child's level of development. This will be used as the basis for the child's initial classroom assignment. Once a classroom is selected, the parents will meet with the teacher and teachers aides for that specific room. At this time any special circumstances regarding behavioral patterns should be discussed so that the best childcare program can be established. Lastly, all required forms must be completed and on file in the day care administrative office before your child's program can begin. Forms include a signed Registration Contract, Child Medical History signed by a Physician with updated immunizations, NYS DSS Day Care Blue Card (if applicable), signed release form with Authorization of persons to pick up the child, signed Parent Contract, and letter of approval from NYS DSS (if applicable).

The Center should be notified of any changes in address, family status, employment changes, etc so that our records can be updated accordingly. Immunizations should be updated as required.

What are the parent's responsibilities?

In order for the Center to operate efficiently the following guidelines must be adhered to:

* Inform the Director of any temporary or permanent schedule changes as indicated on your registration contract. This would include calling the Center each day your child is absent due to illness or other unanticipated events. Permanent schedule changes will require the completion of a new Parent contract

* Inform the Director or other appropriate staff member if you will be early or late picking your child up on any given day.

* Notify the Director if there is a change in family structure (i.e. death, change in routine, divorce, new baby, etc.) which may affect your child's personality.

*Written notification of a phone call must be provided if someone other than yourself will be picking up your child.

* Please contact the Director or appropriate teacher to schedule an individual conference if your child is experiencing a Center related problem which you would like to discuss.

* All financial procedures related to tuition payments must be followed in a timely manner.

* Other responsibilities are listed in individual programs.

What are the qualifications of the staff that work at the Valley Child Care Center?

Each Head Teacher has been appropriately trained for their age group in Early Childhood Education. The staff is certified in CPR and First Aid and participate regularly in State approved trainings. In addition all references of our staff and volunteers are thoroughly checked and everyone is cleared through New York State to check for a criminal record before beginning employment. In addition each employee or volunteer employed by the Center will be the subject of an inquiry made to determine whether or not that person has been indicated in a report of child abuse or maltreatment on file with the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
